Year 11 Business Studies students had a really enjoyable and informative visit to one of the largest snack manufacturers in the UK – The Famous Tayto Castle in Tandragee.
The students were given a fascinating insight into the production process from the potatoes coming in from local farms to being packed into boxes to be sold all across Northern Ireland, Great Britain and beyond.
This was the first time back since COVID and it was great to be so close to the production process at each stage and to be “employed” as expert taste testers. This included the first run of the new salt and vinegar flavoured onion rings. I think the jury is still out on these. The consumers of Northern Ireland will have the final say.
Our thanks go to the very friendly staff at Tayto, including one of our tour guides who is a former student.
The young budding business students of PC certainly enjoyed their first hand experience of seeing the production of one of the most iconic brands in Northern Ireland.
