Portadown College are delighted to announce the first recipients of the Hanna Scholarship which was launched this year. The Scholarship has been established by Mr Michael Hanna in memory of his late mother Mrs Doreen Hanna (nee Cowan) who attended Portadown College over the 1947-1953 period. Mrs Hanna was an avid traveller who greatly enjoyed the opportunities to meet new people, experience different cultures and lifestyles, and to just take a break from day-to-day life In Northern Ireland.
The following students have been awarded Scholarships towards travel opportunities they will undertake this summer:
· Sofija Kaniauskaite will visit Croatia in advance of commencing study at the Algebra University in Zagreb in the Autumn.
· Kazim Tug is travelling to Uzbekistan to experience the history, culture, and politics of the region.
· Rebekah Lennon is representing the Irish U18 National Hockey Squad at the 4-Nations International Competition.
The College are grateful to Mr Hanna for establishing this scholarship to provide funding for students to travel as part of their continued personal education.
