Football is a popular sport in Portadown College with students from all year groups involved. Each year we enter competitions organised by the Mid-Ulster Schools Football Association (MUSFA) as well as those organised by the Northern Ireland Schools Football Association (NISFA). Approximately 75 players represent four different squads. We play most home fixtures at Lurgan Town FC and away games mean that we travel all over the province. Whether Londonderry, Enniskillen, Belfast, Omagh or Ballymena, if it’s on the map we’ve been there!
Games take place midweek during the afternoon.

A small number of our boys have represented Northern Ireland at U16 and U18 level in recent years. One or two have even managed to secure contracts with professional clubs in England. Locally, we have former students starring for Portadown, Glenavon, Linfield, Glentoran, Ballymena Utd, Loughgall and Annagh Utd in the Danske Bank Premiership and the Lough 41 Championship. It’s good to keep an eye on their progress in the game.
Our most notable success in 2022-23 was to reach the final of the NI U18 Plate competition in which we suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to St.Mary’s GS (Belfast) at the Blanchflower Stadium.
