Staff from Portadown College joined colleagues from the other Dickson Plan schools to share details of their collaborative work in eight curriculum areas (English, Geography, Food & Nutrition/Home Economics, History, Mathematics, Modern Foreign Languages, Science and Technology) at Brownlow House on 7 June 2024.
The Curriculum Collaboration, which started in 2022 as a pilot project with five subjects, brings Heads of Department together throughout the academic year to discuss key issues around the transition from Key Stage 3 to 4 and plan specific actions based on the curriculum and pedagogy. Improving curriculum links between all our schools is something which will benefit all our pupils in coping with the transition to courses at Key Stage 4 and ultimately the outcomes at the end of Year 12 which play a key role in their future pathways.
Thanks to all our Heads of Department who have played a proactive role in the project to date. The first cohort of students who have benefited from this collaborative venture will begin Portadown College or Craigavon Senior High School this September and we look forward to broadening and deepening this collaborative work with colleagues from across the Dickson Plan schools next year.
